i would urge you to try and catch kill switch starring steven seagal on sky movies while you can. it is a work of genius. it's with mixed emotions that i can confirm that after 10 years or so, january man has been replaced as the worst film i've ever seen.

written by seagal himself, it earns a very creditable 3.8 / 10 at imdb. seagal plays a memphis cop, complete with an attempt at a southern accent, that can only be described as "gay elvis."

casting is first rate. who would have thought, for example, that isaac hayes would make such a convincing coroner? no-one, because he doesn't.

the fight scenes feature an innovative jump-cut technique. it's the first time i've felt motion sick and bored whilst watching a fight scene. the usual law about seagal's fight scenes - if you can't see his face, it isn't seagal - hold true for this film.

the plot is incoherent, much like the leading actor. and the end scene makes absolutely no sense at all.

please please please try and catch it.

Ha ha - good work fella.

Although by writing this you have guaranteed that I will never watch it as you have saved me the effort. I don't think I've watched a movie with Seagal in it since Executive Decision.

too little too late.

on the subject of terrible movies severon sent me an email ages ago detailing some terrible free movie dvds that came with his mother-in-law's daily m**l.

i tried to persuade him to post on here but he didn't so i'm sure he won't mind me breaking the confidence of his personal communication and posting it on the world wide web for anyone to read [don't worry sev, it's pagasus so only 3 people will see it]

You wanted an update, you got it.......

'My Date With Drew' is a lighthearted documentary featuring the attempts of an obviously gay man to try to get a date with Drew Barrymore. He loves all her films, especially the crap ones, and he sets himself a deadline for getting a date with her. He never achieves the deadline but gets a date with her months afterwards, and the date consists of him fawning over Drew, acting all giggly, and them chatting like a couple of stupid girls. I'd describe it as 'Very Disappointing' if I'd actually had any expectations of it in the first place.

I'm afraid I can't remember anything about 'Mojave Moon' beyond the fact that Angelina Jolie gets her baps out. No surprises there then.

On a serious note, also with the Daily M**l we got 'Man About Town' starring Ben Affleck. Now I usually hate Ben as much as the next man, but this was actually a really good film, and he was quite likeable in it. He plays a lawyer or something, and he's keeping a journal about his life. Someone steals his journal (which contains incriminating details about him and his colleagues) and he has to try and get it back. It had an intelligent and witty script, some great performances from Ben Affleck, Rebecca Romijn, John Cleese and Bai Ling, and I really cared about the outcome of the story. And that, good people, is all I really ask from a film.

Yeah, I think Ben Affleck has found his place doing more low-key roles, away from the inane blockbusters he used to do. I'd like to see that one where he plays George Reeves - the TV Superman. Was that Hollywoodland?

Ben Affleck seems to be maturing into a great director. I haven't seen Gone Baby Gone, though heard good things about it, but I can recommend The Town (not to be confused with Man About Town which Sev mentioned above [where are you Sev?]).

Think it's just coming out on DVD now. If you haven't seen it it's quite a downbeat heist movie, set in Boston USA. Very suspenseful and tense in places. I didn't know much about it when I saw it, just heard it was good, so was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
