I've started taking days off work just to catch up on stuff I've taped. I kind of want there to be more crap TV so I can watch less.

My Atlantic viewing is slowly expanding - first Boardwalk Empire, then Treme, now I've watched the first episode of Bored to Death and then there's Game of Thrones etc on the horizon.

Then Spiral's on BBC4 tonight - I haven't seen the previous seasons cos I didn't have BBC4 but I feel I should try to watch it. But they're doubles as well.

Then Five are going to be showing Walking Dead.

On top of that I taped a few movies recently which I have got around to watching yet - Waltz with Bashir, Appaloosa, Bunny and the Bull. And I'm not keeping up on my comics - just buying more. And I'm trying to read more books this year too but so far I've only read George Speaks.

When I was a kid I could never understand the expression "your eyes are bigger than your stomach" - it made no sense to me. Now I understand the expression well, but instead of it applying to food on my plate it's a metaphorical cultural/pop-culture/ephemera consumption stomach that's way too small for my eyes.

Time is the enemy.

You barst - I've still got about 6 to go - I was feeling quite pleased with myself about that until I heard you'd finished. I'm also a bit not chuffed as since I've been trying to cram in all my catching up I've watched, I'd downloaded all bar the last episode off iplayer. Then BBC f*cked up the last episode so there was no download button the whole week it was up. So when I get there I'll probably get it off itunes.

I have heard that series 2 is coming in the autumn. My one criticism is the amount of info people hold back from the police. You know, people who are suspects withhold relevant information that would clear them until they've been pulled in by the police two or three times, or relatives and friends that have know she worked in a club or whatever and had a boyfriend then don't mention it. If it was me there'd be no dramatic tension whatsoever - I'd be a suspect for about 10 seconds until I told them way more than they wanted to know about my every movement. It's the same way that Shallow Grave would have been completely different if I'd been one of the flatmates:

"Keith Allen's just died and left a million quid in a suitcase"

"Has he? I'll ring the police now"

I've watched the first four episodes of season 3 of Spiral and I'm not sure - I think I might be more into it if I'd watched the previous two series, although this is a new case. As it is, I hadn't realised that the French legal system was so different from ours. Weird.

Have you finished The Killing yet. Started watching S01E01 of Spiral. It's all right. Autopsy scene was quite graphic. Wasn't counting on that. Was eating dinner at time.

Sorry - getting there: two left.

Just watched the business with Meyer at the warehouse. That was a bit of a shocker.

With any luck I'll be done by the end of this weekend.

I've given up on series 3 of Spiral - I'd watched 4 episodes and wasn't gripped - it seemed a bit messy. Lots of French people shouting - as you might expect in a French TV show but you know what I mean. I think it would have been different if I'd seen the previous seasons but as it was I didn't really have any vested interest in the characters. And their interview technique seems to consist of shouting at people. There doesn't seem to be that much detecting going on.

I'm probably going to try to watch Game of Thrones this weekend too.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Good. I was massively disappointed by the ending, how about you? It was all pointing toward some massive political conspiracy, but it turned out to be the shady bloke who lived with them. Booo.

I was kind of relieved about the lack of conspiracy cos I was thinking it was going to be too laboured or forced at the end, but they'd probably made too much of the political angle so that it seemed like there was some sort of related conspiracy thing going on within the higher echelons of the police, and with Hartmann's people and the mayor's.

Early on you had the stuff about deleted phone numbers, and Lund's first boss being taken off the case ...

Dunno where the mayor was meant to have all his extra info from in the end too.

The writer(s) kind of played a double bluff with the whole Vagn thing. The daft thing was that I thought he was a bit dodgy from the start - it was only when he was finally a suspect and then they suddenly started chasing after the taxi driver guy that I stopped thinking something else was going on with him. I don't quite understand why the taxi driver guy killed himself - why he couldn't tell the police etc.

I can understand them not spelling everything out or wrapping up all of the loose ends but I think it was guilty of leading you into thinking there was more going on than there was. How Vagn knew to go to the warehouse and outsmart two policemen etc. You'd think he'd have just got out ot there, not gunned down a policeman.

Have you watched "In Treatment" on Sky Atlantic? I didn't see the first series but read about it - have watched the first 4 of this season and really enjoying it.

Also, yesterday I was having a look at some of the stuff on Sky Arts One that you can download. Three Fritz Lang films: Dr Mabuse, M and Metropolis (although I'm not sure which version of Metropolis it is - with any luck it's the new version with extra scenes restored). Just need to find that extra time to watch it all.

I haven't watched it, but will try to. Are you watching Game of Thrones? It's not bad at all.
