Are you watching Game of Thrones?

Yeah - it's good. I wasn't sure about the first episode - I guess it was cos they were setting the scene and introducing a lot of characters as well as back-story - but I'm really enjoying it now. With all the HBO stuff, before each episode when they give the content warning about the programme having sex, strong language and violence I give a little cheer - I'm so mature.

This week they had six episodes of Noggin the Nog on BBC4 they're still on the iplayer. Not that much happens but it's lovely.

I'll try and find those. Have recently downloaded The Herbs and forced the boys to watch it. They seemed quite interested. Eoin is mad on Thunderbirds at the moment, so they are being downloaded and watched too. C doesn't like it when I watch The Herbs because I get all nostalgic and maudlin for when life wasn't a big shit box.

Have you watched all of Game of Thrones yet? It's good - let me know.

Channel 4 are starting the American version of The Killing in the next couple of weeks. I'm in two minds about whether to watch it cos it'll probably be very similar so might be a bit boring to people who've watched the original, although I've heard that they do change the ending.

Have you watched Camelot at all? I was hoping it would be good - you know, a bit of sex and violence a la Game of Thrones, all set around Arthurian legend. The pilot wasn't brilliant but I thought I'd persevere - then last weeks was just weak. I don't know if I can be arsed to watch any more.

Then Sky Atlantic are starting to show Carnivale this week. I think it's been on Sky before but I've heard good things about it (think HBO made two seasons) so will probably give that a go if it's available on the Sky Player.

yes, we're big fans of it here. the right mixture of good acting and scripts, convincing effects, violence and tits. i even like the way it starts - very old school - none of this "previously on game of thrones" shit. just straight into the opening titles, and then we're off.

we're in that dark place now where we're waiting for the next series of this, and mad men, and walking dead. now that g.o.t. has finished, tv seems particularly poor at the moment. although it needed wimbledon being on to remind me it's the summer, when the telly is always shit.

there's some relief at hand because breaking bad will be starting again on july 17th. falling skies looks like it might be interesting too - aliens to please me, and noah wyle for mrs fraud.

i didn't watch camelot. mrs f watched one to try and assuage her got withdrawal, and basically said what you said above. i might give the killing a try, and carnivale too.

i've started to watch some programme on the food network about barbecuing (sp?) (that'll be primal grill® with steven raichlen, fact fans) and was watching some programme about a new by-pass in boston last night, so desperate has the situation become. maybe it's the baby jesus' way of telling me to have a social life and go out once in a while?

Don't talk rubbish. Better to read book or comics or watch old box-sets than to socialise. Outsiders will only make your life more complicated then ultimately hurt you.

Have you watched any of The Shield yet? If not then I recommend that to fill the void.

Where is Breaking Bad being shown (and what season)? I've still only seen the first two seasons (which are really only one season but technically two). Is this on Sky or will you be downloading it?

I really got into Game of Thrones - it had some great endings where the tension was ratcheting up. I was really taken by surprise by Ned Stark being executed at the end of the penultimate episode - they did a bit of a Vivien Leigh/Psycho Samuel L Jackson/Deep Blue Sea there with Sean Bean. I wouldn't have been so surprised if it had been the final episode - I was just waiting for some delay or for a cliff hanger but it didn't come. I kept trying to think how it might not have actually happened but if they'd weazled out of it at the beginning of the next episode it would have been a bit daft. It'll be interesting to see where it goes next season.

I watched the first episode of Shameless USA this week. I watched the first series of the UK version after hearing loads of praise for it but I really didn't get it - I couldn't relate to it and just thought it was horrible. Clearly there are plenty of people out there who disagree with me as Channel 4 keep churning out new runs of it. It perhaps seems a bit weird then that I would bother with the US version but I thought that perhaps seeing it re-done for the US I might find it easier to enjoy. The US version seemed okay although some of the basic problems I have with it are still there - I'll probably watch a few more.

I have a friend who enjoys a lot of the same TV and he's seen Carnivale and recommends it so I'm going to give it a spin.

I just watched Mildred Pierce off Skatlantic. Not sure where it's meant to go - it was a bit depressing but I've got to a point where I'll give almost anything a go if it comes from HBO.

No, I still haven't watched The Shield [:(]. I don't know where Breaking Bad is going to be shown. I got the date from the AMC website, so I'll be downloading it. It's season 4 I think. I watched S3 on download. Like I am Season 4 of Trueblood for Mrs Fraud and Emily.

I didn't watch US Shameless cos I hate UK Shameless, but I do like William H Macy, so may give it a go.

We started to watch Carnivale, and it was ok, but I fell asleep. We watched Mildred Pierce, but yes, it's a bit slow isn't it? The cliffhanger this week was she got a job as a waitress.

Yeah, it was partly Macy that did it for me. That and the fact that the actresses are better looking so if they get their bits out it's more aesthetically pleasing to my pesty little eye than the original. Jury's still out though.

Carnivale was all right for a first episode, I thought. It's a bit David Lynchy - but that may be more because the little fella out of Twin Peaks is in it than anything else.

I think Five/Fiver/Five USA or whoever fucked-over Breaking Bad in the UK cos it didn't get "the ratings". As far as I can tell, season 3 hasn't been shown in the UK. There are rumours about it coming to Skatlantic, as it would obviously be a good fit, so fingers crossed - although perhaps FX will nab it back and I won't be able to watch it through Sky Player (or Sky Go or whatever they're changing it to). Pretty soon Skatlantic's going to have almost all my American TV shows - they've just got Nurse Jackie too.

I suspect they'll let a few things slip through the net and let the "big four" build a UK audience for them, then steal them and hold them hostage to tragic TV-types like me.

I tried watching Luther on BBC (I'd watched the first series and thought it was all right) but the first episode was just too far-fetched for me and it sounded like it was going to get more preposterous. And I watched The Shadow Line which was quite good but not as clever as it thought it was. I'm sure there must be the odd good British drama out there but I don't seem to see it when it is.

I can't remember if I've mentioned Big Love? I watched the first series on Channel 5 years ago. I'd assumed that only one series had been made but it turned out that once again Five had f*cked it over due to lack of ratings. I've been watching the new ones on Skatlantic - it's quite difficult to classify (family drama? with three wives) but it's well done.

Have you watched it yet? Any good? I can't watch it as it's on FX - hopefully some Freeview channel will show it if it's any good.
