This is an interesting experiment that apparently only works if you use Google Chrome for your browser:

You put in the address you grew up on and it syncs the new Arcade Fire video with images from Google Streetview or whatever it's called.

Doesn't quite work for me as a nostalgia-fest as the angles you see my street from aren't the view I saw growing up - too high up and not close enough to the pavement for my recollection. And it doesn't go far enough down my street to see my house up close.

Cheers ears - glad you liked it.

Is it worth discussing which is the best web browser or is that too internet geek? Then again, perhaps to the internet geek there is no debate (if so, what's the commonly accepted geek wisdom?)

Hmmm. Who knows? Just use whichever one you like the best. I think true geeks prefer Firefox because you can download lots of plugins for it for dev work like packet sniffers and java debuggers and the like. I've tried most of them and I prefer Chrome. That's what I use now, and have for about a year. The main reason is speed - I can't believe how long IE takes to open on the same computer compared to Chrome.

The only thing about Chrome is, like everything you can download from Google, it also installs other programs that sit in the background and use up your pc's resources, things like googleupdater and the like.

If you're going to use Chrome, google for "Chrome standalone installer" so you don't end up with the associated bloatware.

Ta. I'd been using IE but had been becoming increasingly frustrated on the occasions when I wanted more than 3 tabs open (which happens more often than you might think) as one tab would just do nothing forever and you have to open another to get a response. Or perhaps that's just my pc.

If you don't have the updater though doesn't it mean you have to check manually for updates, therefore making you more susceptible to attacks/viruses and the like?

Yep, tru dat. Though hopefully, your anti-virus should take of most of it. Chrome should be fairly secure anyway, but I guess it's a tradeoff between convenience and assuaging my "What's THE MAN installed on my PC?" paranoia.

Here's another chrome experiment - apparently.

It's a game . I didn't see the instructions but it was fun figuring out - I think I died three or four times before I started to cotton on to the logic of it.

Then I scored 001335 points - and got 87.1%.
