We watched Black Swan the other day. It's all right. Maybe 5-6 out of 10

I really enjoyed it when I saw it at the cinema - I'd probably give it an 8 out of 10. And that's nothing to do with fancying Elle Porto cos I didn't fancy her in this one.

I can see why other people might not enjoy it and it's a bit over the top - plus the lesbian bit was pretty gratuitous - but I when I watched it I was really wary of whether it was going to be a bit too silly and rubbish so I think I was pleasantly surprised. The only bit that I found way too silly was the "chicken leg" moment. Fortunately that was the most preposterous bit.

That Horrible Bosses trailer looked pretty promising - although so often that doesn't pan out in the actual film.

I don't remember the lesbian bit, or the chicken leg bit. I may have been in the kitchen for those bits - my interest did wane a bit, you see.

She went back to her apartment with Mila Kunis's character and lezzed up with her on her bed. Or did she?

I can't remember when the chicken-leg bit happened but I think she was standing in her room and ... how to describe this ... her leg joints went chicken-leggy. Or did they?

I enjoyed the stuff between Porto and Barbara Hershey - her mum was a complete nightmare.

Have you seen X-Men First Class or whatever it's called? It's meant to be good.

Sky are currently showing The Secret in Their Eyes , which won best foreign language film at the Oscars, and is, quite frankly, fan-fucking-tastic. Court Drama / Lover Story and is marvellous!

Haven't been yet but am probably going soon so will let you know.

I really enjoyed the first two X-movies. The third was diverting whilst you watched it but they made some odd plot choices (killing off cyclops and whatnot), tried to put too many new characters in, featured too much Storm when she's not that interesting, and made a mistake in thinking that bigness/spectacle made up for all other deficiencies. The Wolverine movie was worse - just weak, I thought. So when I heard they were doing First Class I was indifferent but the advance buzz sounded pretty promising and I felt a geeky spark from the trailer.

I went to see it this week. It's pretty good - not essential viewing but nicely done. It teeters on the brink of silliness a couple of times but I think it manages to keep the right tone and the end is quite satisfying.

I saw the new Pedro Almodovar film, The Skin I Live In, this week. I couldn't believe it was on at my local Sh**case so I thought I ought to go and support them showing foreign language stuff in case they never do it again otherwise.

I thought it was great - I knew hardly anything about it apart from Antonio Banderas being in it and playing a plastic surgeon or something. I think that the less you know about it the more enjoyable it is - although it's not to everyone's tastes.

It's quite difficult to categorise - elements of thriller, horror, even sci-fi. With a big dollop of Almodovar frankness about sex, sexuality, drugs etc.

If you get the chance, watch it.

Plus the female lead, Elena Anaya, is gorgeous.

Good work. I suspect we won't get the chance to catch it at the cinema - so it'll have to be a Sky box office / naughty download option.
