I did watch half of it, but then the Sky box ran out of disk space. I'll try and stick with it though. It's a bit like going to the dentist, not exactly pleasant but you know it's doing you some good. Actually it's not like that at all, but I can't articulate what I mean. There's just so much shit on, I feel that I owe it to myself and him to watch, because it's thoughtful and intelligent and he's made the effort.

jaysus - how much have you got on there?

yeah, i think i get you. it's a doesn't feel like it'll be "fun" to watch - but i think that's more because you have to pay attention rather than let it wash over you.

i found it really interesting but almost felt i should watch it again to try to retain more of it's meaty goodness in my brain. the content was, inevitably, vaguely depressing - just because of what it says about the world etc. i don't know why i let this stuff depress me when i'm barely a molecule in the massive systems that they're talking about. i also find it vaguely depressing cos i'm clearly nowhere near as clever as people like adam curtis and it made me wonder if i shouldn't have squandered so much of my time watching rubbish films on the off chance of seeing some boob, reading comics, buying dvds i never watch etc etc. perhaps then i wouldn't feel so much that what i was learning from the programme was only fleeting and ephemeral and wasn't already fading from my memory.

but it was fascinating. did you see the bit where he was talking about carmen hermosillo/humdog yet? i googled after and here's the quote again:

soul.</pre>

i created my interior thoughts as a means of production for the corporation that owned the board i was posting to, and that commodity was being sold to other commodity/consumer entities as entertainment. that means that i sold my soul like a tennis shoe and i derived no profit from the sale of my soul.

That's right, and don't you forget it.
