Easy,

I have Season 1 and 2 of the new-ish non-Benedict Battlestar Galactica downloaded still to watch. Is it any good? Worth watching?

I saw Season 3 on Sky the other month, and it seemed to veer from "ok" to "shit-on-toast." Especially at the end when they all started humming "All along the watchtower."

Please advise!

Why has it bleeped out my swearing? It should read "s-h-i-t on toast" above. Why can't I swear on my own f-u-c-k-i-n-g site?

Now then, I've only seen the pilot episode(s) so I can't comment on the rest but what I saw was very promising and I've heard very good things about the first 2 seasons. Joss (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) Whedon is a big fan. I'd like to see it myself. One of my mates (probably BLT or dear old Fluff) reckoned it was Fantastic. I don't know how big the budget is/was though - don't expect lots of Robots shooting people every episode - but that may mean they spent more time and thought on the script instead of flashy effects. I have voted. You may wish to note that my vote was influenced by my wish not to commit Husbandicide, a crime often brought on as a result of enforced viewing of Sci-Fi for a period longer than six consecutive evenings.

Let Blake's 7 be a warning to you.

No worries. I think that if we watch 4 hours a night solid, we can get through the lot in 6 nights.

I think that was the problem with the Season 3 episodes that I saw. It was too much like watching a Harold Pinter play, and not enough shooting robots.

Ken - is it an aversion to Sci-Fi in general - or just the sensory deprivation of watching the same show intensively for a sustained period of time?

Are there any Sci-Fi shows you do like particularly?

I don't object to Sci-Fi as a genre but I do object to certain programmes that teeter off the shitter end of the Sci-Fi scale. Like Blake's 7, for example. You can imagine my delight when Papa decided to spend a number of weekends and weekday evenings watching Blake's 7 boxsets and doing very little else.

Actually, this has reminded me of some excellent animations a friend of mine made using shots from Space:1999. I will have to see if I can find them.
